Ms. B’s Boudoir Experience
We recently reached out to one of our FAVORITE clients to tell us a little bit about her boudoir experience, the things that led her into our studio, how she felt during and after. Can you believe Ms.B is in her 70’s? I know I couldn’t!
When Erin asked me to consider doing a Boudoir Photo Shoot with her, my immediate reaction was one of panic. How could I ever do a lingerie session because I was too old (I’m in my 70’s!!), too out of shape, too heavy and too wrinkly? And even if the photos were just for me (and my husband), I believed I would be embarrassed by the results.
I kept thinking about it for months, however, and vacillated between “yeah, let’s do it” to “are you out of your mind”?
I thought of the Schitt’s Creek episode when Moira frantically searched the internet for the nude photos of her taken decades ago. She could not find any and was devastated. Her advice to everyone was “get your nudes done now”!!!!
So, I did. I found the courage to go for it. At the studio, Erin showed me a full rack of gorgeous lingerie items in all sizes, colors and amounts of materials. She helped me pick out items that would be good colors for me and with which I was comfortable.
The first few poses felt awkward. I was nervous. Erin was so encouraging and authentic that I started to relax. I started to laugh. I started to have fun with it. She would show me the shots after taking them to give me confidence to keep going and it worked.
By the end of the session, I was walking around naked completely comfortable and looking forward to the results. I felt exhilarated and proud of myself. You see, after a lifetime of men body shaming me, I realized that I did not have to keep those old tapes running anymore. I felt beautiful just the way I was.
I was stunned when Erin sent me the photos. Her artistry captured who I was. They were so beautiful – it is still hard for me to say that I WAS BEAUTIFUL, TOO. The bottom line is that we all have beauty and Erin was able to capture that in her photos. I am now ready to have another photo shoot because I never got ones on her swing.
